Our *why* of floristry

Written by Flowers by Zach-Low

"Do you even want to be a florist?"

My answer was a quick "yes, of course". It's been running through my mind as I've been at work from early until late the past few days. Why do I do this? Why not a desk job?

Few careers bring the opportunity to bring a smile to someone's face at every stage of life. Dating, marriage, birth, anniversaries, milestones, just because, birthdays and also death. Each bringing with it a different perspective of emotion and passion, not only from my clients but also from me.

Though I'd call myself a universal florist, sympathy tributes are closest to my heart. It is an honor to create these tributes from a loved one's ideas, colors and favorite flowers. Death is never easy, you always remember someone through their favorite things. When I sit across from a family who says "he loved fishing" or an elderly gentleman says "here's our wedding picture, can we incorporate these flowers?" or "Mickey Mouse was her favorite". I listen to them relive stories and smile at a memory through their tears of loss, it stirs a passion and a mission in me to bring their memory to life through flowers.

God has given me two hands and an imagination to design his beautiful creations into articulate messages from one to another.

Whether conveying love, joy, excitement, sorrow or remembrance, I am honored that my clients trust me with not only their floral order, but their memories as they share their stories.
Though it's not the most glamorous job and we don't spend the whole day "playing with flowers", I love being a florist and feeling connected to such a great community of clientele.
